Overview

Monkko fills an interesting role as a potentially bulky or somewhat speedy offensive Tem, as its Shaolin trait allows it to output very impressive damage while Harmful Microwaves synergy gives it priority. When holding Sensei Robe, it functions well as a Melee attacker on its own. However, it requires team support to be a more effective Digital attacker. Very noteable is its access to Reset, which also gives it a powerful niche against setup teams. Unlike many other offensive Melee and Digital tems, its high HP allows it to tank neutral hits reasonably well. It pays for these strengths with a 4x weakness to Digital, fairly low speed, and mild stamina issues. Monkko can overcome its issues and perform excellently within the right team, but must be played carefully and likes to be well supported.

Monkko is a staple in the Arbury era of digital teams that rely on its high special attack output to combo Microwaves damage and back it up with big Soul Shouts amped up by Sensei Robe.

What sets Monkko apart from the other digital damage dealers is that it has access to Reset, a very useful technique against tems that build up their defenses. Aside from that, it's not an overly complicated situation to get started with Monkko - play it with other digis, Microwaves when you can, Plasma Beam melees and mentals when microwaves is low synergy, and Soul Shout otherwise.

Play Monkko with other digis - it's a great partner for Mimit, in particular, and Zaobian can help cover its water, electric, digital and mental weaknesses.
